Foot and Ankle Professionals, Bondi Junction and Eastern Suburbs

Active people often have troubles with their feet, because they are so busy. At the end of the day, an active lifestyle can result in aching joints and arthritis, and muscular pain.

Gentin Podiatry and Physiotherapy has been succesfully treating foot and ankle problems for years in Bondi Junction and the Eastern Suburbs, for children, teenagers, busy families and seniors.

Everyday Feet Care

From time to time, we experience pain in our feet, or heels, or shin, even hips – and it’s because of many things – the way we sit, the way we walk, the shoes we wear, even our diet. If you ignore these niggling pains, they can cause many other problems, as we compensate to avoid the pain.

We also provide ongoing foot maintenance, to regularly remedy ingrowing toenails, bunions, callus build-ups, and recurring bacteria issues that cause tinea, odour and embarrassment.

People in the Eastern Suburbs take their sport seriously. Sometimes, however, this can either exacerbate existing ailments, or create new problems, affecting ankles, joints, tendons and arthritis.

Common Sporting Injuries

Are you experiencing pain after exercising? Why some of the most common sporting injuries occur and how we can help.

GETTING BLISTERS?

This could be abnormal foot function – blisters aren’t always caused by ill-fitting shoes.

What you can do: Don’t pop them! This can cause infection. See your podiatrist.

HEEL PAIN IN THE MORNING?

This could be Plantar Fasciitis. While there are several causes for morning foot pain, such as a spur, Plantar Fasciitis is common in runners and dancers.

What you can do: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. If pain persists, see your podiatrist.

PAINFUL BIG TOE?

This could be Sesamoiditis. This can be caused from big workouts and high-intensity activities.

What you can do: Rest, and ensure your footwear is correct for the type of activity you are doing. See your podiatrist if pain persists.

BRUISED TOENAIL?

This is caused by a hemotoma. A hemotoma is a bleed under the nail, which can be caused by ill-fitting shoes when running or hiking.

What you can do: Check the fit of your shoes and see your podiatrist if symptoms don’t improve.

SORE KNEES OR HIPS?

Often surprisingly to patients, this can relate to your feet. Knee pain and hip pain can be caused by your gait, which is the way you walk or stand.

What you can do: Consult a podiatrist to have the biomechanics of your foot and lower limb region assessed.

PAINFUL BALL OF THE FOOT?

Common causes can range from a stress fracture to a neuroma, or other factors.

What you can do: Rest and see your podiatrist as soon as possible for treatment.
